Educators
Turn your skill, trade, or hobby into a teaching business. You set the curriculum, the price, and the schedule. We handle payments, verification, and connecting you with families.
Why teach on Covey?
Earnings you can plan around
Set the minimum number of kids you need to make the trip worthwhile. The trip auto-confirms (and parents are charged) once that minimum is reached — below it the trip doesn't run and nobody is charged, no wasted prep. Per-activity earnings and payout history live in the app, with payouts hitting your bank in ~2 business days.
Your schedule, your rules
Run activities when it works for you — weekdays, weekends, summer, after school. No fixed hours, no boss.
Pick or add a location
Browse listed venues — farms, studios, workshops — or add a free public spot like a park, library, or trail right from the app. No waiting on Venue Operators for public spaces.
What you can teach
Anything you know well enough to share. Covey supports nine categories, but we're always expanding. If kids can learn from it and do it safely, it belongs on Covey.
How to get started
Create your account
Download Covey and sign up with your email. Verify your email and phone number.
Complete verification
Verify your identity with a government ID and selfie. Submit your Ontario Vulnerable Sector Check (must be less than 5 years old), professional credentials, and two references.
Build your first activity
Set your category, age range, class size (with a minimum and maximum), your educator fee, and the schedule. Per-child pricing falls out of (fee + venue cost) ÷ max kids, so a packed trip is what hits your target rate. Add an optional bad-weather backup location too.
Get reservations
Parents reserve spots with their card on file. Nobody is charged yet — the trip stays in “unconfirmed” status until enough kids sign up to hit your minimum.
Trip confirms automatically
Hit your minimum and the trip locks in: every reserved card is charged, you’re notified, and the parents are notified. Below minimum within 24h of start, Covey auto-cancels and nobody’s card is touched.
Teach and get paid
Run your activity, and your earnings are deposited to your bank within 2 business days. Parents can rate and review each activity afterwards.
Verification requirements
Because you'll be working with children, we require thorough verification. This protects kids, builds parent trust, and sets you apart from informal alternatives.
Identity verification
Government-issued photo ID + selfie, verified through Stripe Identity. Ontario-issued ID or Canadian passport with Ontario address required.
Vulnerable Sector Check
Ontario police-issued VSC, less than 5 years old. This is the standard for anyone working with vulnerable populations in Ontario.
Credentials & references
Upload relevant certifications (teaching, First Aid/CPR, trade tickets, etc.) and provide at least two professional references.
Pricing and payouts
You set your fee for the whole trip. The venue sets their own day rate. Those two get added together and divided by your max class size — that's the price parents see per kid, locked at publish.
What you actually take home
You and the venue each earn a share of your stated fees proportional to how full the class fills. A packed class = your full fee (less Covey's 10%). Half-full class = roughly half. Parents always pay the listed price; you and the venue absorb the cost of under-booking.
Example: \$200 educator fee + \$150 venue rate = \$350, ÷ 10 max kids = \$35/child for parents. If 10 kids book, you take ~\$180 (90% of \$200) and the venue takes ~\$135. If only 5 kids book, you take ~\$90 and the venue ~\$67 — same per-child price for parents, both sides split the under-fill.
Confirmation & charging
Parents save a card when they reserve; we only charge them once your minimum signups is hit. Below minimum, the trip auto-cancels and nobody pays.
When you get paid
Payouts release after the trip ends plus a short buffer for disputes. Funds land in your Stripe-connected bank in ~2 business days.
If a parent cancels
Parents who cancel 48h+ before a trip get a 50% refund; cancelling later than that means no refund. Heads-up though: if a late parent cancellation drops a trip below its minimum class size and the seat doesn't refill before the trip runs, the educator and venue earn proportionally less — the missing seat's share isn't recovered. Payouts always reconcile to what was actually collected.
The app's trip detail screen shows the math live: what you'll earn at minimum signups, what you'll earn at a full class, and the venue's share — no surprises at payout.
